Why should I get a pre-purchase house inspection?

Buying a house is one of the biggest investments you will ever make and getting a pre-purchase house inspection from a qualified builder allows you the peace of mind to make an informed decision. Our inspections are unbiased, as we work independently from agents and sellers, give you a comprehensive written report to identify any issues the property may have.

How long does a house inspection take?

Inspection times vary depending on the type of home, its age and size; however, for an average three bedroom home, we would estimate 2-3 hours for a thorough on-site inspection that is carried out to NZS 4306:2005.

What equipment do you use?

We only use the latest up to date software and equipment. For inspections, this includes equipment from Trotec, specifically: Trotec T660 Non-Evasive Moisture Meter, Trotec T510 Evasive Moisture Meter, and Trotec AC080V Infrared Camera for Thermal Imaging.

Do you do verbal walk-through inspections?

No. Gusto Property Solutions only offers written reports compliant with NZS 4306:2005. To comply with this standard, all house inspections must be documented in a written report that is then provided to the client. We want our clients to be able to read their house inspection and understand the pros and cons before purchasing. Verbal walk-throughs can lead to people being misled, or not fully understanding what the problems are with the property prior to purchasing.

What is meth?

Methamphetamine (or meth) is a highly addictive stimulant drug, manufactured from a range of highly toxic and poisonous chemicals. Methamphetamine is an odourless stimulant which makes it impossible to detect without a test.

Why should I get a meth test done?

No one wants to learn that their brand new home was formerly a meth house. Testing your prospective home for methamphetamine is highly recommended, as living in a contaminated home puts your family’s health at risk and can be very costly to decontaminate.

I can get a cheaper house inspection done, would you drop your price?

As the saying goes, “cheaper is not always better.” In addition, make sure you are pricing “apples for apples.” Gusto Property Solutions are Building Officials Institute of New Zealand (BOINZ) Accredited Building Surveyors priced very competitively for our outstanding service. You receive a written comprehensive property report, compliant to NZS 4306:2005. We are confident you will not be disappointed with our service.
